Yasin Malik returned to this Kashmir summer capital along with his Pakistani wife Mishaal Mullick



Kashmiri freedom fighter Yasin Malik returned to this Jammu and Kashmir summer capital along with his Pakistani wife Mishaal Mullick on Sunday.


The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman had married the Pakistani artist Feb 22 this year.

As the couple arrived at the Srinagar airport, they were warmly received by friends and relatives. Later, they reached their Maisuma residence where hundreds of supporters, mostly women, had gathered and greeted them with songs.

There was festivity in the locality where Yasin Malik's friends and relatives had gathered from early morning.

The British-born Mishaal Mullick has a degree in political economy from the London School of Economics. Her mother is a senior leader of the Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan Muslim League.

Yasin Malik told reporters that his wife will not be involved in politics, and added that "Kashmir issue has to be resolved as per the wishes of people."


Yasin Malik ties knot

Renowned Kashmiri freedom fighter and Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Mohammad Yasin Malik, tied knot with a Pakistan girl, Mishaal Mullick, here on Sunday. She hails from Chakwal.
Political leadership from all over Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were in attendance and the wedding party in a big way turned into a political gathering.
The prominent leaders who attended the wedding party of 42 years old Yasin Malik were President of AJK Raja Mohammad Zulqarnain Khan, former prime minister AJK Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan and his son Sardar Attiq Ahmad Khan, Chairman of Kashmir Committee in National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman, former minister Sh Rashid Ahmad, Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, former ISI chief Lt Gen (Retd) Hamid Gul, Lt Gen (Retd) Talat Masood, Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Aziz Khan, Niab Amir Jammat-i-Islami Prof Khurshid, former law minister SM Zafar, Kashmiri leaders Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, Ch Yasin, Abdul Majid Malik, Abdur Rashid Turabi, APHC leaders Syed Yousuf Nasim, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Mohammad Safi, Maulana Gulam Nabi Nosharvani and others.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani could not attend the function as the former was in China and the latter was busy with his other pressing political engagements.
However, Presidential spokesman Farahatullah Babar attended the function and greeted Yasin Malik on behalf of President of Pakistan and offered his good wishes.
For conducting the Nikka ceremony Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad was invited but he also could not turn up due to some other engagement and his representative Prof Hafiz Sajjad Qamar attended the function.
The Nikka ceremony was conducted by Khatib Jamia Masjid Ghosia Varan Bus Terminal Sadr Qari Ali Mohammad Waqar. After the Nikka ceremony sweets were distributed among the participants and Qari Sahib also offered Dua’a for the success and well-being of the newly married couple.
In his brief address on the occasion veteran Kashmir leader Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan prayed for the success of the couple and advised them to observe patience and tolerance to make their marriage a success.
In a light vein, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan said that in the function a journalist termed the marriage as a knot between the occupied and Azad Kashmir.
